Brooklyn Art Haus is a newly opening arts organization that will premier new and innovative productions. For our artistic community, our mission is to serve as an incubator, social environment, and performance space built for the longevity and success of artists and companies that maintain high standards and take risks with their projects. Café des Artistes is our Bar/Restaurant conjoined to Brooklyn Art Haus. Focusing on neo-Mediterranean fare, the café will be open for most daily hours to serve as a café, light lunch and dinner post, then drinks and late night bites. We will be open 7 days a week! Our hours of operation are 9am- 12am Sunday - Wednesday and 9am - 2am Thursday - Friday! We are looking for: Lead line cooks / Line cooks (competitive pay) for availability starting May 22nd! We are looking for full time line cooks committed to our mission of creating an inviting art space for guests and all artists to enjoy, plan and perform! Key Requirements: Experience in full service restaurant is desired Understanding of cooking methods, ingredients and equipment Solid references Flexible schedule Task-driven individual Knowledge of kitchen equipment and utensils. Ability to understand and carry out detailed written and/or verbal instructions independently. Ability to work weekends, holidays, mornings and nights. Ability to exert up to 60 pounds of force frequently, and lift up to 150 pounds occasionally. Ability to grasp, lift, reach, crouch, stand, walk, and carry for long periods of time. A positive attitude. Responsibilities Cooking and preparing all menu items in accordance standards set by the Chef Stocking and maintaining sufficient levels of food on the line Food preparation and portioning prior to service Maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods of time Responsible for compliance with industry food safety standards. Assists in all aspects of food preparation and presentation as needed. Assists in control of inventory and supplies. Responsible for safety in the kitchen environment. Maintains cleanliness in common areas including the ramp, barbecue, and garbage collection areas. Keeps work areas and food storage areas clean and safe at all times. Perform all other duties as required, including dishwashing as needed. To safely prepare ingredients required for food service from a sanitary environment Qualifications: 2+ years experience as a prep cook and or line cook looking to have more responsibility in the kitchen. Ability to self start with the help of production lists and checklists. Able to communicate effectively with Guests (when possible), Managers and kitchen personnel.
